Teresa Alicbusan: “I am a mother of two grown up kids who are 24 and 27 years of age. At the age of 45, I was overweight (68kg) and this also resulted in suffering from breathing difficulties. I became so careless, I didn’t care how I looked or how my health was being severely affected. But one day, I decided I had had enough, and I decided to change my routines.
I started running and swimming and even shifted to a healthy diet. The casual run and swim turned out to be great sports for me, so I registered for my first running race in 2018 where my pace was around 8-9mins per km, but I was hooked!
In a span of 3 years I am healthier than ever. I am now 48 years old, I weigh 53kg, and I can run at a pace of 5-6min/km.
I have done 2 full marathons, 4 half marathons, a few 10km runs, and even managed to be part of the leaderboard at a recent 5km race. On 31 January 2021, during my most recent half marathon, I finished at 2.01 which I considered my PB. I have also done aquathlons and I have also signed up for my 1st triathlon event!
I should also mention that I am a proud GRANNY now and I still wish to continue running in the future. I wish to inspire those in their late 40’s because as I realised, it is never too late for anything!”
